Challenges of Pakistan's Ceramics Industry
Ceramics is an industry that needs a significant amount of energy for production. And given the energy crisis, the country has been facing for the last many years, the industry is not doing well. Not only is there a shortage of gas and electricity, but the energy costs have risen to very high levels. Add these costs to the taxation and you can see the big hurdles the ceramics industry is facing.
Moreover, the industry is quite highly dependent on imports from countries like China. Although local products are cheap, big companies still choose imported materials for the sake of brand and quality. There is an urgent need for technological innovation to tackle the energy crisis and a need for change in the government policies as well as attitudes of the bigger companies. The country needs to increase local business and cut down on imports.
Muhammad Hashim Enterprises aims to continue performing its best with resilience and to contribute to innovation in the industry to tackle the challenges.
